MAP Leadership
The Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania is guided by a dedicated team of community midwives committed to advancing the profession and strengthening the midwifery community throughout the Commonwealth. MAP's leadership works collaboratively to support the organization's mission, advocate for community-based midwifery, foster professional excellence, and ensure that midwives have a strong and unified voice in Pennsylvania.
As the organization enters a renewed chapter, MAP's leaders are focused on building a strong foundation for the future through member engagement, professional development, standards development, legislative advocacy, and organizational growth. Together, they are working to honor the profession's rich history while helping shape the future of community midwifery in Pennsylvania.
Kristy Wilson

President
Kristy Wilson is a community-based midwife, educator, preceptor, and advocate who has served families throughout Pennsylvania and across the country since 2012. Based in Central Pennsylvania, her practice focuses on traditional homebirth midwifery, informed choice, physiologic birth, and family-centered maternity care.
A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and Certified Direct Entry Midwife (CDEM), Kristy also holds certifications in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) and Infant Craniosacral Therapy (ICST-C). Since entering practice, she and her team have cared for more than 1,000 families, mentored student midwives, and built strong relationships with families, healthcare providers, and community leaders throughout the Commonwealth.
As President of the Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania, Kristy is committed to strengthening the profession through advocacy, education, professional collaboration, and the advancement of community-based midwifery. She is passionate about ensuring that women and families have access to informed maternity care choices and believes that respectful, relationship-centered care helps families thrive.
A mother of ten and grandmother of three, Kristy brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work and leadership.

Camille Grant is a community-based midwife, educator, and advocate dedicated to advancing respectful, family-centered maternity care. Born and raised in Guyana, South America, her Afro-Indigenous heritage has profoundly shaped her commitment to honoring pregnancy and birth as normal physiological processes while supporting families through informed choice, education, and compassionate care.
Throughout her career, Camille has served families in community birth settings while promoting evidence-informed, relationship-centered maternity care. She is known for her commitment to empowering parents through education, fostering trust-based relationships, and helping families navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with confidence and support. Her work reflects a deep belief that every family deserves individualized care that respects their unique values, culture, and circumstances.
In addition to her clinical practice, Camille is passionate about midwifery education and mentorship. She is dedicated to supporting the next generation of community midwives and strengthening the profession through collaboration, professional development, and the preservation of traditional midwifery knowledge. She believes that honoring both the art and science of midwifery is essential to ensuring strong and sustainable community-based care models for future generations.
As Vice President of the Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania, Camille is committed to fostering unity among midwives, advancing professional excellence, and supporting initiatives that expand access to safe, respectful, and culturally responsive maternity care throughout the Commonwealth. Through her leadership, education, and advocacy, she continues to champion the rights of women and families to receive informed, individualized, and compassionate care.

Misty Brown

Misty has served families throughout Pennsylvania for more than thirteen years and has been dedicated to community-based maternity care since beginning her midwifery apprenticeship shortly after high school. After stepping away from birth work to raise her five children—four of whom were born at home under midwifery care—she returned to practice in 2016 as a midwifery assistant before transitioning into the role of primary midwife.
In 2018, Misty founded Sacred Seasons Birth Care, LLC. She holds a Bachelor of Science and MEAC-accredited diploma from Mercy in Action College of Midwifery and is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives. She is also a Certified Health Coach and Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner and continues to pursue advanced education in international midwifery, women's health, and herbal medicine.
Having attended more than 1,200 births, Misty is passionate about supporting families from diverse cultural, religious, and family backgrounds while promoting safe, respectful, and relationship-centered care. As Treasurer of the Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania, she is committed to strengthening the profession through collaboration, education, sound organizational stewardship, and advocacy while helping preserve access to community-based midwifery throughout the Commonwealth.

Melissa J. Cook is a Certified Direct Entry Midwife (CDEM), healthcare advocate, educator, and organizational leader with more than twenty-seven years of experience in business management and executive leadership. As a founding member and President of the National Fellowship of Direct Entry Midwives (NFDEM), she has played a key role in advancing direct-entry midwifery through professional standards development, education, advocacy, and organizational growth.
Melissa's passion for supporting women and families began more than eighteen years ago as a birth doula, lactation counselor, and Lamaze childbirth educator. Her commitment to community-based maternity care led her to pursue formal midwifery education through the Midwives College of Utah's Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program, complemented by extensive community-based clinical training, ultimately leading to the founding of Mother Me Midwifery. Through her work, she is dedicated to informed choice, physiologic birth, and relationship-centered care that respects the unique needs, values, and goals of each family.
As Secretary of the Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania, Melissa brings extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and nonprofit leadership. She is committed to strengthening Pennsylvania's community midwifery profession through advocacy, education, professional collaboration, and the development of sustainable systems that support both midwives and the women and families they serve.
